The Georgia Ice Dogs will be traveling to Savannah, GA twice this season as the announcement of a second hockey tournament in the historic coastal city was announced on Thursday.

The “Spine & Sport Cobblestone Hockey Cup” will take place October 12-13 in the Savannah, GA Civic Center The Georgia Ice Dogs will be the marquee team for the event that will include Auburn, South Carolina, and Clemson hockey teams.

Head coach John Hoos was a speaker at the announcement during a press conference in Savannah this past Thursday.  He was joined by Ben Wilder, the executive director of the Savannah Sports Council, and Dr. Jacques Beauchamp co-founder of Spine & Sport, a Savannah based physical therapy company who signed on as the title sponsor for this new event.

The Spine & Sport Cobblestone Hockey Cup schedule will put Auburn against Clemson followed by SEC East matchup Georgia vs. South Carolina on Friday October 12.  Saturday’s games include the in-state rivalry game between South Carolina and Clemson and the marquee SEC battle between Auburn and Georgia.  Tickets are on sale now at

The introduction of this new special event comes after several years of efforts led by UGA Hockey to expand upon the tremendous success of the Savannah Hockey Classic held each January. The January classic will continue without change, and this season will celebrate 15 years of collegiate hockey in Savannah with the Hockey Classic as the premiere event in the country for non-varsity hockey which rivals or exceeds many similar NCAA tournaments.
