Evan Moore’s debut season with the University of Georgia Ice Dawgs has been nothing short of spectacular.

With 14 goals and five assists, the sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, is already emerging as one of the most exciting rookies in the AAU.

Moore’s hockey journey began at the age of five when he was first introduced to the game by a group of brothers from New Jersey.

“Growing up, there were three brothers from New Jersey that lived four houses down from me. I would always see them playing street hockey in their driveway, so I went over there one day and played with them. I have been playing hockey ever since and have still remained friends with them.”

Over the years, he has played for a number of prestigious programs, including the TPH Thunder (AAA Tier 1), Nashville Jr. Preds (AAA Tier 1), New Hampton School (USHS-Prep), Maine Nordiques (U18 AAA) and now, the University of Georgia (AAU).

For Moore, the highlight of his 16-year hockey career came during a dramatic game with the Nashville Jr. Preds.

“We were down two goals with about three minutes left in the game. I basically played the rest of the game. My teammate scored a goal and then I scored with very little time left to tie the game up, allowing us to win in overtime and send us to the championship the following day.”

Moore said, “I was exhausted yet felt extremely accomplished.”

Besides hockey, Moore also played lacrosse and soccer when he was younger. He chose to stick with hockey because he quickly developed a natural talent for the game.

“I met a ton of lifelong friends that I wouldn’t have if I had never played. I would say one of the best parts of playing hockey was going on trips and getting to see new things in different states. Especially experiencing things I had never done before off the ice, like riding ATVs in the desert in Arizona.”

His decision to attend the University of Georgia was driven by both athletic and personal considerations.

“I wanted to play club hockey, and I didn’t want to be in the cold weather anymore,” he said.

The sophomore is currently a Finance major at the Terry College of Business.

Off the ice, Moore is a foodie, with a particular love for spicy rigatoni (his favorite), jambalaya and gumbo.

His passion for traveling is also very notable as Aruba stands out as his favorite destination that he’s been able to travel to.

“Traveling and experiencing new things is something I want to do as much as I can before I die,” Moore said.

With his explosive start to the season and his ever-growing list of accomplishments, Evan Moore is certainly a player to keep an eye on in the AAU.

As he continues to evolve both on and off the ice, one thing is clear: Moore’s future on the team looks incredibly promising as they chase a national title.
