ATHENS, GA (August 4th, 2026) – The University of Georgia Ice Dawgs officially announced their 2026-27 season schedule today while unveiling “Built Beneath Athens,” a season-long campaign celebrating nearly four decades of Ice Dawgs hockey and the program’s enduring impact on the Athens community.
Founded in 1987, the Ice Dawgs have grown into one of the most recognizable collegiate hockey programs in the Southeast, building a tradition that has connected generations of student-athletes, alumni, fans, and supporters throughout Georgia.
The 2026-27 season will feature a slate of home games at Akins Ford Arena, highlighted by Opening Night on September 27 and a variety of fan-favorite theme nights throughout the season.
The “Built Beneath Athens” campaign serves as a reminder that Ice Dawgs hockey is not a new tradition; it is part of the foundation of Athens. Through storytelling, community engagement, alumni recognition, and fan experiences, the campaign will celebrate the people and moments that have shaped the program since its inception.
“When we began planning this season, we wanted to create something that truly reflected who we are; not just as a hockey team, but as a program that has been part of Athens for nearly four decades,” said John Camp, General Manager and Head Coach of the UGA Ice Dawgs. “We challenged Ghost Brands to develop a campaign that captured our culture, our history, and the passion that’s been built by generations of players and fans. They delivered exactly that with ‘Built Beneath Athens.’ It honors the foundation that so many people have helped create while giving our team and our community something to rally behind as we begin this next chapter. It’s exactly what this program needed heading into this season.”
Season Tickets for the 2026-27 season are on sale now, and fans can view the complete season schedule online at UGAHockey.com. Single-game tickets are expected to go on sale in mid-August, with the team’s full lineup of theme nights, promotional events, and fan experiences set to be unveiled later this month.
