Athens, GA. — The Ice Dawgs are hosting the Texas Longhorns at home this weekend on Nov. 14 and Nov. 16 at Akins Ford Arena. The Ice Dawgs look to rebuild momentum this weekend after going 1-1 with Michigan State last week. Georgia is currently ranked No.1 overall for the ACHA Men’s Division II Southeastern Conference Hockey and Texas is No. 5 in the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference. 

A win would mean a lot to the Ice Dawgs as their last home series of 2025. Georgia looks to utilize their strong defense to hold the Longhorns back. Senior Goalie No. 40, Isaac Haugen has been a key player and has greatly assisted the team in staying ahead in many games. His current save percentage for the season is over 90%, with a shutout against in-state rival, Georgia Tech, three weeks ago. The Ice Dawgs’ deep defenseman line and Haugen are essential in the upcoming series. 

The Longhorns are not a conference rival in the ACHA, but the two schools are currently seen as rivals through Texas’ entry into the SEC for NCAA Division I Athletics. This rivalry will likely build hype for Ice Dawgs fans and it will be exciting to see the Ice Dawgs meet the Longhorns this weekend in the two game series.
