The University of Georgia Ice Dawgs and Michigan State Spartans delivered an intense matchup that ended in a 3-3 tie after overtime, with MSU claiming the shootout 1-0 for bragging rights.

UGA struck first at 16:17 of the opening period, when Jordan Sirota buried a feed from Ryan Bailey and Graham Baird to give the Dawgs an early lead. Michigan State answered late in the first, scoring at 19:29 to even the game heading into intermission.

The Spartans seized momentum early in the second period, tallying goals at 1:48 and 4:39 to go up 3-1. But Georgia clawed back when Charles Kerrigan lit the lamp at 17:03, assisted by Bailey and Evan Parente, cutting the deficit to one.

The third period was a defensive grind until Ryan Bailey came through in the clutch, scoring at 17:47 off helpers from Parente and Declan Conway, tying the game at 3-3 and sending the contest to overtime. Despite chances on both ends, neither team could break through in the extra frame.

Although the game officially goes down as a tie, a shootout was held for a tiebreaker. Michigan State converted one of its three attempts, while UGA came up empty.

Between the pipes, UGA’s Isaac Haugen was stellar, stopping 37 of 40 shots, while MSU’s netminder turned aside an incredible 55 of 58 shots, keeping the Spartans alive under heavy pressure.
